Lunafly are getting ready for their European tour starting September 4 in Madrid, but they were kind enough to take some time out and give Kpop Ireland a short interview before they jet off to Europe!

KPI: What are you most excited about for your European tour?

Lunafly: Seeing our European fans is definitely the most exciting part of the tour. Our shows are always very energetic and we are looking forward to seeing our fans’ reactions.

KPI: Which other places do you wish you could visit?

Lunafly: There are so many countries we want to go to. Apart from the ones we are going to, perhaps the UK and Ireland because we haven’t been there yet, and because Sam is from London.

KPI: Do you know any Irish musicians or songs?

Lunafly: We love The Script and their songs ‘For the first time’ and ‘Breakeven’. We also love U2. They have so many great songs, like ‘Vertigo’ and ‘With or Without You’. Sinead O’Connor is a legendary artist we also love. Damien Rice is also fantastic. His song ‘Cannonball’ is one of our favourite songs ever.

KPI: Who is your biggest inspiration?

Lunafly: A lot of artists inspire us. Groups like The Beatles are very inspirational because of the sheer quality of their work and creativity. Any artist who doesn’t give in to peer pressure and does the music that they truly love, we would say as being inspirational.

KPI: Which of your cover songs is your favourite?

Lunafly: Of course we like all of our cover songs. Our version of Jesse Y Joy’s ‘Corre’ we like because we felt it matched up to our style perfectly. The vocal melody is beautiful and the general style of the song was perfect for us.

KPI: If you could duet with any other artist or band, who would you like to do it with and what song?

Lunafly: We are currently working on a new album which is a little different to our previous sound. Danny O’Donoghue from The Script would be great to have as a guest singer. If anybody knows his manager’s contact details, let us know!

KPI: Why do you think K-Pop, as a musical genre, is so popular amongst Western audiences?

Lunafly: Well, the quality of the music is very high. A lot of energy is put into the production, mixing and mastering of records. A lot of energy is also put into making sure performances are memorable, especially dance teams and idol groups. Psy’s ‘Gangnam Style’ is a prime example.

KPI: What is the best thing about being in a K-pop band?

Lunafly: We get to live in the amazing country that is South Korea and also travel the world doing shows.

KPI: Do you have any message for your Irish fans?

Lunafly: Thank you all for your support for us and for showing love for our music. We would absolutely love to go to Ireland one day to see all of you. So let’s keep our fingers crossed so that can happen soon!

Thanks to Lunafly for the interview! We wish them the best on their European tour, and thanks as always to Japako Music!
