Some 10 months after the end of legal negotiations surrounding who owned the rights to the franchise, Warner Bros. have announced that they are working on a new Dungeons & Dragons movie.

Warner Bros., Hasbro’s Allspark Pictures and Sweetpea Entertainment have come to an agreement and are moving with a new movie based on the fantasy RPG. David Leslie Johnson has already written a screenplay for the film, set in the D&D land of Forgotten Realms. Hasbro, Sweetpea and Warner Bros. are sharing production.

“This is far and away the most well-known brand in fantasy, which is the genre that drives the most passionate film followings,” Warner Bros. president of creative development and worldwide production Greg Silverman said of the production. “D&D has endless creative possibilities, giving our filmmakers immense opportunities to delight and thrill both fans and moviegoers new to the property.”

There were already two films made based on the Dungeons & Dragons series, but they are best left forgotten. There is as yet no projected release date for this new adaptation, but hopefully it yields positive results!
