Static Shock
Following his famous father down the crusader route, Jaden Smith is apparently set to play classic character Static Shock. The character had a cartoon of the same name that was popular in the early 2000s and is set for a live-action revival, with Django Unchained producer Reginald Hudlin helming the project.
The beans may have been spilled by actor Tyler James Williams (The Walking Dead) in an interview with Flicks And The City. After being heckled about rumours by a gathered crowd, he said, “It’s great to see Static Shock is happening with Jaden.”
The ‘Jaden’ he referred to is Will Smith‘s After Earth co-star and son Jaden Smith. Rumours have been circling about the youngster playing Static Shock since October, although Warner Bros. and DC haven’t officially confirmed anything yet.
Initially a comic created in 1993, Static Shock was adapted into an animated TV series in 2000 and featured Static, an African-American student, who was exposed to an experimental mutagen, leaving him with the power to control electricity.
