The first of the fresh arrivals to the Arrow/The Flash universe on CW has been confirmed as Hawkgirl will be joining the new team-based spinoff. Played by Ciara Renee, details are still relatively unknown as to what form the show will take, though it is expected to be part of their post-Summer 2015 slate.
Deadline reports that Hawkgirl, aka Kendra Saunders, is “a young woman who is just beginning to learn that she has been repeatedly reincarnated over the centuries. When provoked, her ancient warrior persona manifests itself, along with wings that grow out of her back, earning her the moniker Hawkgirl.”
Renée joins Wentworth Miller, Brandon Routh, Dominic Purcell, Victor Garber and Caity Lotz in the show. When the as-yet-unnamed project was announced, Greg Berlanti, a co-creator of Arrow, said that there wuld be three DC characters who have never been seen on TV before. Hawkgirl has made a brief appearance in Smallville, as well as having appeared in DC animated films, so speculation remains rife as to who the completely new characters could be.
