The latest films in the Terminator franchise have been quite hush hush on what we can expect from the new trilogy, but Entertainment Weekly managed to pop open the lid on what the plot of the first film will be, and it’s, well, it’s a strange one.
Terminator Genisys will be a re-telling of the first Terminator film, but with a change to Sarah Connor’s character. Instead of Sarah (Emilia Clarke) being chased by Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Terminator while professional Terminator killer Kyle Reese (Jai Courtney) tries to protect her, this time around when Kyle goes back to 1984, he’ll find that Sarah Connor has been orphaned by Arnolds’ Terminator, and he has been her father since she was nine.
Sarah has been well-trained by her Terminator dad, but is completely useless at human interaction. As such, the film follows Kyle’s attempts to get close enough to her to father John Connor, who will be played in the film by Jason Clarke. No, I’m not making this up.
Teminator Genisys will be directed by Alan Taylor, previously of Thor: The Dark World, and will be released July 2015.
