At this time of the year, you’ve got to be sick of hearing ‘Jingle Bells’ and ‘Fairytale of New York’ being played over and over, be it at home, ion work or even when you’re out shopping. Christmas is supposed to be exciting and fun, isn’t it? I shouldn’t be getting a headache from the same old Christmas songs being constantly played, and let’s face it, ‘Jingle Bell Rock’ is only enjoyable when Gretchen Wieners kicks a stereo into Jason’s face.
But fear not! I’m hear to bring you some cool alternatives to the drones of Christmas carols you’re used to! Take a look at this list and make your Christmas playlist unique and interesting!
5. ‘Jingle Bell Rock Anthem’
This is made by the guys over at Brian Havig Comedy with help from Divine Comedy. This is so upbeat and catchy that I assure you you’ll be on your feet at 4am when your younger siblings or children are jumping on your bed andasking to open to presents because Santa’s been here and… Oh can we just stay in bed?
4. ‘Doctor Baby’
Made by the wonderfully talented Caroline Doss, this is one of the best Doctor Who parodies I’ve heard next to ladies over at ‘Not Literally’. Her voice is so soothing and the lyrics are genuinely funny. Worth a listen for all Whovians out there!
3. ‘Please Bring Firefly Back (For Christmas)’
Written and sung by Mikey Mason, this is genuinely lovely song for all the Browncoats this Christmas. It’s heartfelt and every Firefly fan can relate to it.
2. ’12 Days of Christmas: D&D Version’
Written and sung by Pete from d20rpggamer, this parody made me chuckle countless times. It hits close to home for RPG gamers!
1. ‘Arthas Baby – Hurry Down from Icecrown Tonight’
Slightly NSFW (so click here at your own peril), this song is easily number one on my list. Made by the folks over at the Yogscast, sung by their very own Hannah, ‘Arthas Baby’ is something they try to forget. Don’t let them. It’s extremely well written, and Hannah’s got a serious set of pipes on her! One for the Warcraft fans, it’s got to be my Christmas number one!
