‘I’ve been chanting EA GAA over in my head now for a while and it sounds really catchy! Now if you spend your Sunday afternoons glued to your seat while your county team goes head to head with another or your cooped up at home with the Sunday roast hap hazardly placed on your lap while your Mam and Dad scream blue murder at the television (it’s okay they went to Mass that morning!).
If the GAA coarses through your blood and you fancy testing your ability to manage and play your favourite teams in a video game well your options are somewhat limited. Now the last time I played a sports game on a console I was ten and my grandmother handed me a copy of Fifa Soccer for the Super Nintendo (needless to say my Nana was in the bad books for a couple of weeks after that), the genre and the actual activity has never appealed to me as a gamer in the slightest but there are thousands of gamers all over the world who take to Soccer/NFL/Hockey/NBA video games like I do to obscure Japanese titles (each to their own!).
For those of you who are interested in the world of GAA and the world of video games there have been very little titles to satiate your need. In 2005 an Australian development company tackled the market with ‘Gaelic Games: Football’ but with critics and gamers alike slating it, the game was considered a disaster but that didn’t stop the company peddling a sequel to it which was also poorly received.
Now though it would seem that fans of the sport are asking EA games to take on a game and are gathering interest from all over the country and the world.
‘Petition to have EA Sports make GAA 13‘ are calling on fans of the GAA to side with them in asking the company behind major franchises including the Fifa soccer games (shudder!) and their support is growing fast, with over 5292 signed up the Facebook page already.
So if you fancy taking to a virtual pitch and (seriously running out of football knowledge here) wearing your county colours with cyber pride, join the lads and help make this game a reality!
